Born Bred and Fed in Yorkshire
Yorkshire Farmers was established more than 75 years ago by
local livestock farmers who wanted to work together to market
their produce. To this day the business remains under the control
of its farmer members, marketing pigs cattle and sheep through
local and national outlets.
Yorkshire Outdoor Pork is the retail brand of Yorkshire Farmers,
through which local livestock producers supply local consumers
with quality produce of known provenance.
Currently under the Yorkshire Outdoor Pork label we supply speciality
sausage, bacon and pork products to local consumers.
Quality, provenance, animal welfare, food safety and low environmental
impact (low food miles) are the main areas of concern for our
customers. who require taste and succulence in the products
they buy, and are interested in animal welfare, the origins
of the meat they wish to consume and demand that the products
they buy have been made with care in a safe environment.

We guarantee that all supplies of pork
are sourced from our member’s farms in the Yorkshire
area. We only use pork from outdoor born and reared pigs
for maximum flavour and succulence in our products. |
Animal Welfare
All supplies of pork are from animals born and reared in high
welfare pig production systems, and approved and registered
under the RSPCA’s Freedom Food assurance scheme. This
means that all piglets are born outdoors and reared in straw
based accommodation on the same farm. The pigs have lots of
space to roam, root and wallow and are healthy and happy.
Low Food Miles
We pride ourselves on the low environmental impact of our pork
production. Animal feed is supplied from an independent Yorkshire
compound feed producer, with slaughtering and processing occurring
within a few miles of the target consumer leading to a favourable
resultant environmental impact. Food
Safety
Products supplied under the Yorkshire Outdoor label are produced
to a safety standard required by retailers at national level.
Our current manufacturing facilities are SALSA accredited to
satisfy this requirement.
The SALSA accreditation has been developed to provide retail
food buyers with demonstrable assurance that locally sourced
food meets fundamental food safety and legal requirements.
